Use Wispr Flow in Slack
Wispr Flow types into Slack like any other app: click the message box, hold your hotkey, and speak. It is a natural fit for Slack, where you send many short messages a day and speaking is faster than thumb- or touch-typing a reply.
Why Slack is a good fit
Slack messages are short, frequent, and conversational, exactly what dictation does well. Wispr Flow strips filler words and adds punctuation, so a spoken reply reads like a written one. It also adapts tone, so a quick "on it, will have this by 3" comes out clean rather than as a raw transcript.
How to use it
Install Wispr Flow on your Mac or Windows machine (or use the mobile keyboard on iPhone / Android), open Slack, click into the message field, hold your hotkey, and talk. Review and hit enter.
A note on privacy in shared channels
Dictation is transcribed in the cloud by default, so treat it like any other cloud tool for sensitive channels. Talking out loud in an open office is also a courtesy question; see our post on dictation in open offices.
